Before you go

Check your card to make sure it won't expire. Additionally, don’t forget to confirm your credit limit and account balance.
Jot down your credit and debit card numbers and contact numbers for your issuer phone number, just in case.
Make sure you remember (but don’t write down) your card PIN.
Let your card issuer know about your trip before you leave so unfamiliar transactions aren’t flagged as suspicious.
Purchase tickets using your Visa card for protection in case your tickets are lost or stolen or the airline delays or cancels your flight.

Don’t leave your cards unattended, whether you’re at work or relaxing in your hotel, and take advantage of the hotel-provided safe for valuables.
Save all of your receipts. Once you’re back home, check them carefully against your monthly statements.

Eligible Visa cardholders may contact Travel and Emergency Assistance Services to receive help finding a referral for medical, legal and transportation assistance as well as other goods and services. Eligible Visa cardholders can contact the service with no charge 24/7, 365 days a year.

: Contact your Visa card issuer ahead of time so you are aware of any possible daily cash withdrawal restrictions.
: Make a record of your Visa card account and telephone numbers for reporting lost or stolen cards (including international Visa Global Customer Assistance Services numbers) and keep it in a safe place away from your wallet or handbag.
: It is recommended that you review your statements when you return. Go through your statements carefully and contact your issuing bank immediately if you see any suspicious or incorrect charges.
: If you have experienced a merchant violation of Visa rules at a merchant location that accepts Visa, you can take action.
